The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
(JOHSC) currently meets regularly to discuss and make
recommendations relating to health and safety in the workplace. The
worker members on the JOHSC are present at the beginning of
occupational health and safety testing, investigate critical
injuries and attend work refusals.
Each school or worksite in the OCDSB has a non-management Safety
Representative who completes a monthly inspection of the workplace.
The principal/site supervisor has 21 calendar days to respond to
hazards noted on the Inspection Report.
Should you have a concern about health and safety at your work
site under the Occupational Health and Safety Act your
responsibility is to report the concern to your principal. Document
your concern on an Occupational Health and Safety Concern Form and
keep a copy for your records. In the event of an accident, exposure
or occupational illness complete a Worker's Accident Form.
For more information contact your OCETF Joint Occupational
Health and Safety Committee representative Lee-Anne
Feltham.
