Congratulations to all who participated in the 12th Annual OCETF Wellness Volleyball Tournament. This year's edition of the annual Spring rite of passage was the largest tournament yet. This year 97 teams registered to participate in the tournament in three different categories: Competitive (A level), Recreational (B level) and Beginner (C level).
The evening started with teams assembling at nine different sites to play the preliminary round. The qualifying teams in each division made their way to the main site at Cairine Wilson Secondary School for the play-off round. In addition to the teams participating in the play-offs many teams arrived at CW for an evening of socialising and fun.
At the end of the evening, when all the dust had settled the following teams deserve special mention:
A Division
D. Roy Kennedy Champions
Clifford Bowey Finalist
B Divison
Greenbank Champions
Henry Munro Finalists
C Division
Glen Ogilvie Champions
Greenbank Finalists
Thanks to the Wellness Committee volunteers who make this tournament possible every year! Hope to See you all back in 2011!!
History
The OCETF Wellness Volleyball Tournament can trace its roots to the Carleton Board of Education Volleyball Tournaments held at Emily Carr Middle School beginning in the 70's. Over time, the Ontario Public School Teachers' Federation - Carleton expanded the tournament to include teams participating at multiple sites. After the creation of The Ottawa Carleton Elementary Teachers' Federation in 1998, the Wellness Committee continued this well established tradition by hosting the Inaugural OCETF Wellness Volleyball Tournament. Since that time the tournament has continued to grow each year with more participants and teams. The OCETF Wellness Volleyball Tournament continues to be an opportunity for all OCDSB employees to enjoy an evening of socializing and physical activity with their colleagues.
